In 2015 I started experimenting with special effects make-up and making and styling wigs and costumes. I can be found regularly at events and conventions such as Heroes Dutch Comic Con (Utrecht), MCM (London Comic Con) or Kingdom of Elfia Haarzuilen/Arcen. Under the name NinaVerse Cosplay. I can also be found under that name on Instagram. Cosplay is really my stepping stone to the theater world and costume making and passion for the profession started here. Shortly after that I started a design course in Rotterdam at the Theater School, where I developed myself with the help of specialized teachers and various internships.

In 2016 I started making dolls and costumes professionally. This started in my own projects and slowly grew into a passion and work. In 2021 I finally dared to take the plunge and started my own studio. I make costumes, among other things, that are used for musicals, various events and TV throughout the country. And all that from my now small-scale studio in Gilze.

Before graduating, I gained work experience at theater companies such as 'Jeugdtheater Hofplein', 'Worm' led by Jari Winsen & 'Theater Rotterdam' where I worked on the costumes for 'Familievoorstelling: Repelsteeltje & de blinde prinses'. In my final year, I did an internship where I worked for the TV spectacle, The Masked Singer (RTL), which was also my graduation project. My design for 'De Joker' and 'De Tijger' was chosen by the production.

DESIGNER

From blank sheet to new performance

A passion for creating mood boards and drawing designs for costumes, decor and everything in between has now become a big part of my studio.

I have already been able to throw up designs for various organizations and performances. Such as the performance of Jeugdtheater Hofplein shown here: 'Vader' from 2022, directed by Peer van de Berg.

The diversity that a blank sheet of paper brings to possibilities, and then the challenge to convert those shapes and colors into a real tangible product, is something that I really draw strength from. And that I hope to be able to share!
